Idaho Becomes First State to Pass Law Requiring Attorney General to Sue Federal Government if Health Care Reform Bill Passes

As the historic healthcare reform vote is imminent, thirty-seven (37) States are proposing laws designed to counter the law's mandatory insurance requirements that will be a boon to the private insurance industry. Idaho has taken it one step further and has actually passed a law requiring the State Attorney General to sue the federal government if health insurance becomes a mandatory requirement.

Idaho took the lead in a growing, nationwide fight against health care overhaul Wednesday when its governor became the first to sign a measure requiring the state attorney general to sue the federal government if residents are forced to buy health insurance.

Bay Area Residents Revolt Against PG&E's Invasive Smart Meters

I am glad to see people standing up for their rights against these new smart meters especially this Navy veteran. I am 100% against the smart meters and the smart grid. If I am ever blessed to own a home, I will take my home completely off of the electrical grid before I will allow the utility company to install its all-knowing smart grid. You can watch a news video of this Bay Area story by clicking the picture above or this link if you can't see the picture.

The new meter allows the utility to read your energy usage remotely, eliminating the need for meter readers. But what's it doing for customers? Hundreds don't like them. And now, there's a growing rebellion from people who don't want them.

Mark Dieteman is taking a stand against PG&E's new smart meters, putting his old meter under lock and key. "What I basically said to PG&E is: You're not coming by to put this on my house, period."

And why? "To me it's unconstitutional, it's an invasion of my privacy," he said.

Here is some technical information on the smart grid from a blog article last September - Commerce Department: NIST Framework and Roadmap for Smart Electrical Grid Interoperability Standards Release 1.0 (Draft).

Texas Computer Hacker Charged with Remotely Shutting Down Over 100 Automobiles in Austin

Why are there so many electronic systems in modern cars? These systems only make new cars more expensive to buy and to fix. Why can't a company build a purely mechanical old fashioned automobile, using modern technology and materials to increase precision of the design for improved efficiency? If the car companies eliminated all the super complicated electronic garbage, then a hacker would not be able to remotely disable the vehicles like this guy allegedly did in Austin.

More than 100 Austin car buyers had their vehicles disabled or triggered to continuously honk after police said a former employee hacked into the company’s account.

Police said the terminated Texas Auto Center employee accessed the computer system to disable the online account that allows the company to deactivate the starters and activate the horns and GPS of many of the vehicles.

Can Scientists Alter a Person's Memory Like in Total Recall?

Being that Total Recall is one of my favorite all-time movies, I just had to link to this Wall-Street Journal article on whether it is possible to alter someone's memory.

Is it possible to permanently change your memories? A group of scientists thinks so. And their new techniques for altering memories are raising possibilities of one day treating people who suffer from phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder and other anxiety-related conditions.

First H5N1 Bird Flu Outbreak in European Union in a Year as Virus Found on Chicken Farm in Romania Near Ukraine

Just passing along the information that the E.U. has seen its first H5N1 bird flu case in a year. The cases are on a poultry farm in Romania near Ukraine.

Romania has identified an outbreak of bird flu at a poultry farm close to Ukraine and enforced a 20 km-wide surveillance zone around it, the European Union's executive said on Tuesday.

The outbreak of the H5N1 virus in the commune of Letea near the Ukrainian border is on a key migratory pathway for wild birds, which could aid its spread.

Only One Person Shows Up to Pro Water Fluoridation Rally in Mount Gambier, South Australia

Goodie, goodie. I am glad that no one in Mount Gambier is supporting this water fluoridation garbage, well except for the one lone supporter who organized the rally to see how many people in the community want water fluoridation.

A LONE campaigner was the only person to walk Commercial Street on Saturday in the rally he organised to allow those in favour of the public health measure to demonstrate their support...

However...it was not clear whether the poor turn-out for the pro-fluoridation rally after more than 120 people participated in an anti-fluoride protest on July 16 meant the majority of the community was against the process.

Based on the rally's attendance, I guess no one in Mount Gambier wants fluoridation. I bet if there was a water fluoridation referendum on the ballot, then I believe that the measure would fail especially once people were educated on fluoride's many side effects and toxicity levels.

Girl Scouts of America Distributes Planned Parenthood Sex Guide "Healthy, Happy & Hot" at United Nations Meeting

Healthy, Happy Hot Brochure by IFPP.org

From the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute:

(NEW YORK – C-FAM) The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides hosted a no-adults-welcome panel at the United Nations this week where Planned Parenthood was allowed to distribute a brochure entitled “Healthy, Happy and Hot.” The event was part of the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) which concludes this week.

The brochure, aimed at young people living with HIV, contains explicit and graphic details on sex, as well as the promotion of casual sex in many forms. The brochure claims, “Many people think sex is just about vaginal or anal intercourse… But, there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!” The brochure goes on to encourage young people to “Improve your sex life by getting to know your own body. Play with yourself! Masturbation is a great way to find out more about your body and what you find sexually stimulating. Mix things up by using different kinds of touch from very soft to hard. Talk about or act out your fantasies. Talk dirty to them.”

Sleep Dealer (Movie About Aqua Terrorists, Predator Drones & Scientific Dictatorships)

I will have to check out this Sleep Dealer movie, because it looks quite good and entertaining especially if you enjoy reading the topics on this blog. Here is the synopsis from IMDB.

Memo (Luis Fernando Peña), a young Mexican, lives on a milpa in Santa Ana, Oaxaca with his family. Once, a river flowed through the milpa, which his father owns. But a few years ago, the Del Rio Water Company built a dam upstream. Now, residents of Santa Ana must pay $1/gallon to enter the facility and collect water.

In his spare time, Memo tinkers with discarded radio parts and builds an antenna to pick up voices from far away. One night, he overhears a transmission between Rudy (Jacob Vargas), a drone gunship operator, and his compatriots. His signal is detected, and tracked down to his family's shack in Santa Ana. Live on TV the next day, Rudy carries out a mission to neutralize an "aqua-terrorist intercept". As Memo and family watch on their TV, they soon realize that the target is the antenna on top of their shack. They run back to the shack, only to see it obliterated by a hovering drone gunship. As Memo's father crawls out of the building, Rudy gets confirmation that he is a known "aqua-terrorist", and Rudy fires a rocket at him, blowing him to bits.

Overcome with guilt, and needing to find a way to support what's left of his family, Memo takes the bus to Tijuana, the Mexican "city of the future"...

Canada is Buying More United States Real Estate Properties Than Any Other Country

I like my Canadian neighbors, but I jokingly act as if I don't like the Nation - namely because I grew up watching pro wrestling and Vince McMahon always knew how to pit the USA against foreign Nation States even our own Canadian neighbors. I fell right into Vinny Mac's baiting as did many other American wrestling fans.

Nevertheless, Canada still obviously likes the United States (or wants to buy us out), because with current exchange rate, Canadians are buying properties at a greater rate than citizens in any other Nation State. Because many Canadians live in cold, icy areas, some of these Canadians are checking out properties in the Sun Belt.

Developers will be hard at work courting Canadian dollars this week as families descend on Florida, Arizona and other sun destinations for the March break.

According to a U.S.-based National Association of Realtors study of international home buying activity, Canadians were the No. 1 foreign purchasers of property in the United States in 2009.

Why is NASA Searching for Nemesis / "Death Star" / Nibiru / Planet X / The 10th Planet with WISE Telescope?

I guess the Planet X/Nibiru theory may be more than just a theory. Otherwise, NASA is wasting money. Or maybe it will be a dwarf star or something similar like in the above Bud Light commercial.

Summary: Is our Sun part of a binary star system? An unseen companion star, nicknamed “Nemesis,” may be sending comets towards Earth. If Nemesis exists, NASA’s new WISE telescope should be able to spot it.

Nicknamed “Nemesis” or “The Death Star,” this undetected object could be a red or brown dwarf star, or an even darker presence several times the mass of Jupiter.
