Some countries will do anything to persuade people to get the H1N1 "swine flu" vaccine. Case in point, the island of Formosa or as it is commonly known, Taiwan. The government has offered bribes to its citizens to get them to take the vaccine.

Taiwan [Formosa] launched an island-wide H1N1 vaccination campaign on Saturday, offering cabbages and other small gifts to induce people to take the shot.

More than half a million people took the vaccination shot on Saturday at 2,573 places designated by the Department of Health.

Many people do not want to take the vaccine, because they are scared of the vaccine's reported bad side effects. I do not blame them for not wanting to take it.

Some Taiwanese are reluctant to take the shot, fearing the vaccine is not safe.
