China's Weather Modification Office Pilloried for Causing Heavy Snowfall in Beijing!

I bet if you ask 10 people at a bar, 9 of them will call you crazy if you tell them that there are weather modification devices that change and affect regional meteorological patterns. In fact, you are might end up in a fight depending on the bar.

However, if there is no such thing, then why does China have a Weather Modification Office? This same office has been heavily criticized by the public recently for inducing a heavy, early snowfall in Beijing.
Sunday's snowfall dropped more than 16 million tonnes of snow on the Chinese capital, blanketing a city where winter heating services have yet to be switched on and leading to howls of public protest, the China Daily reported.

The Weather Modification Office shot massive amounts of chemicals into clouds over the city the night before to provoke the snowfall, which it said was needed due to a lingering drought in the region, the paper said.
