Why is President Obama extending the 9/11 National Emergency Declaration? 9/11 was eight (8) years ago. Why are we still at emergency levels when there are no verifiable threats? It makes no sense!

President Barack Obama has provided a notice in the Federal Register and delivered a copy to Congress indicating he has renewed the state of national emergency.
In his letter to Congress, Obama pointed out that the terrorist threat continues and that the powers and authorities adopted by the previous administration must go on past September 14th, 2009. The National Emergencies Act limits a state of emergency declaration by terminating annually, unless consecutively renewed by the President.
Under an emergency declaration, President Obama seize property, organize and control the means of production, seize commodities, assign military forces abroad, institute martial law, seize and control all transportation and communication, regulate the operation of private enterprise, restrict travel, and, in a variety of ways, control the lives of United States citizens.
In other words, the President can do anything he wants at any time and all he had to do was put a notice in the Federal Register. I guess it is one of the perks of the job.
